The CBI Book of the Year Awards (formerly the Bistos) are the leading annual children’s book awards in Ireland. The awards are made each year to authors and illustrators born or resident in Ireland and are open to books written in Irish or English.

Inis magazine is the flagship publication of Children’s Books Ireland. It contains a rich array of children’s literature articles, features and reviews. The recently redesigned print edition is complemented by its new online home at www.inismagazine.ie

CBI runs various events throughout the year, including our annual conference, which is a weekend-long celebration of the very best in books for young people from home and abroad.

CBI’s Children’s Book Festival runs for the month of October every year and sees libraries, schools and bookshops all over the country hosting events with the very best Irish and international children’s authors and illustrators.

The inaugural laureate for children’s literature was announced by President of Ireland Mary McAleese in May 2010 and was awarded to Siobhán Parkinson, who has since been working tirelessly to promote children’s literature in Ireland
